DESCRIPTION:\n\nWelcome!\n\nThe Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (
CAMS)\, in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is
holding a one-day workshop for existing and potential users of CAMS on Th
ursday 30th January 2020 in Dublin. \n\nCopernicus is the European Union
’s flagship Earth observation programme designed to provide data and inf
ormation freely and openly through six services to tackle environmental ch
allenges and stimulate innovation and economic growth. Two of the services
\, on climate change (C3S) and the atmosphere (CAMS) are both implemented
by ECMWF on behalf of the European Commission. The Copernicus Atmosphere M
onitoring Service (CAMS) provides consistent and quality-controlled inform
ation related to air pollution and health\, solar energy\, greenhouse gase
s and climate forcing\, everywhere in the world. \n\nWorkshop outline \n\n
The CAMS user workshops are an opportunity to learn from the experience of
existing CAMS users and hear how they apply the data to their work\, meet
members of the CAMS team\, and interact directly with advanced and new us
ers of CAMS products. \n\nDuring the day: \n\n\n	the CAMS team will descri
be the services\, data access options and user support mechanisms\; \n	CAM
 S users will share their experiences of using CAMS products and services\;
\n	you will have the opportunity to tell the CAMS team what you might nee
d from CAMS\, thereby shaping the future development of the service.\n\n\n
Registration for the CAMS User Workshop is free and will be open in early
December\; CAMS will provide coffee and lunch during the day\, while parti
cipants are expected to cover their own cost for travel and accommodation.
Registration is open to anyone interested in attending but space will be
limited so we encourage you to register as soon as possible to reserve you
r place. \n\nIf you are willing to present to attendees\, either as new us
er to explain your needs for CAMS products or as an experienced user to sh
are your experiences and suggestions\, please indicate this on the registr
ation form. \n\nA more detailed agenda will follow soon. \n\nWho is using
CAMS? \n\nCAMS data is already being used by scientists and academics\, po
licy-makers and local planners\, as well as business and industry. \n\nExi
sting CAMS users include: \n\n\n	commercial organisations generating reven
ue streams by adapting the free CAMS products\; \n	academic institutions u
sing CAMS data for research\; \n	government bodies using CAMS forecasts an
d data for policy development\;\n	local air quality forecast providers usi
ng CAMS forecasts to determine expected air quality at the edge of their l
ocal forecast domain. \n\n\nBackground to CAMS and future funding \n\nThe
composition\, format and delivery of CAMS services to date has been shaped
by feedback from service users over the last decade during the pre-operat
ional and now operational phase of CAMS. The service\, implemented by the
European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecast (ECMWF) on behalf of the
European Union\, is fully operational since 2016 with EU funding guarante
ed until at least 2020. \n\nhttps://events.ecmwf.int/event/171/
