t\, recent advances and future challenges in high-resolution numerical mod
elling of the atmosphere and ocean. Latest advances in efficiency and nume
rical methods will be discussed. \n\nWe believe this course is quite uniq
ue within the atmospheric community. For more details on the course see th

ydrostatic dynamics\n Horizontal and vertical discretisations\n Time-integ
ration\, advection and high order space discretisation schemes\n Elliptic
solvers\n Numerical techniques for solving the prognostic equations in the
ECMWF model (IFS)\n Numerical techniques for massively parallel computer
architectures expected in the future\n\n\nRequirements\n\nParticipants sho
uld have a good mathematical background\, and are expected to be familiar
with the contents of standard meteorological and mathematical textbooks. A
familiarity with python is useful for some of the practical sessions.\n\n

e note series.\n\nSome practical experience in numerical weather predictio
