DESCRIPTION:This course was a remote event.\n\nThis 4-day course is sponso
 red by EUMETSAT and is open to anybody with a suitable background as eithe
 r a student or scientist working in data assimilation.\n\nThis course prov
 ides a complete overview of the usage of meteorological satellite observat
 ions in operational numerical weather prediction (NWP). It includes a seri
 es of lectures and practical sessions covering a range of topics – from 
 fundamental theoretical concepts through to detailed practical implementat
 ions in modern state-of-the-art data assimilation systems.\n\nRequirements
 \n\nParticipants should have a good meteorological and mathematical backgr
 ound\, and are expected to be familiar with the contents of standard meteo
 rological and mathematical textbooks.\n\nIntroductory material not covered
  by the course can be found in our lecture note series.\n\nSome practical 
 experience in numerical weather prediction is an advantage.\n\nAll lecture
