 uly 2021\, ECMWF hosted a 3-day virtual workshop on Global hydrological mo
 delling and forecasting.\n\nDay 1 aimed at presenting and discussing recen
 t advances in global and large-scale hydrological modelling used in water 
 cycle predictions up to medium-range\, and in monitoring applications such
  as regional and global reanalyses. It will discuss the challenges involve
 d in attaining skillful estimations of the water fluxes and reservoirs in 
 the range of 1 to 25 km resolutions\, making best use of Earth Observation
 s to calibrate\, validate or verify the model output.\n\nDay 2 and 3 focus
 sed on connecting large scale to local needs and decision making\, as well
  as catchment-scale advances in hydrometeorological forecasting\, addressi
 ng challenges of hydrological ensemble forecasting and monitoring.\n\nThe 
 workshop was organised under the umbrella of ECMWF\, the Copernicus servic
 es CEMS and C3S\, the Hydrological Ensemble Prediction EXperiment (HEPEX) 
 and the Global Flood Partnership (GFP).\n\nUsing the same virtual platform
 \, the event engaged and linked the wider research and user community thro
 ugh a range of keynote talks\, plenary debate Q&A sessions\, presentations
 \, and virtual networking activities.\n\nThe format of the workshop was in
 teractive and participants had the opportunity to connect with people and 
 their work through different sessions. The presentations were scheduled in
  two blocks per day to accommodate people working in different time zones 
 as far as possible. The first block of presentations ran from 9:00 to 11:3
 0 BST and a second block from 14:00 to 16:30 BST.\n\nMore information.\n\n
