DESCRIPTION:\n\nChallenging physics in seamless predictions\n\nOverview\n\
 nIn this year's Annual Seminar we took up the challenges in physics across
  forecast model resolutions and times scales from the 12-hour 4D-Var windo
 w in data assimilation to the seasonal prediction range. Improving these f
 orecasts requires challenging the physics itself\, whether it be the under
 lying processes and their mathematical formulation\, scale awareness\, int
 eractions between the Earth and the Atmosphere\, new observational dataset
 s and/or new forecast products required by the end user.\n\nThe programme 
 consisted of nine sessions that were followed up in the afternoon by poste
 r sessions\, where attendees were invited to present their latest work. Th
 e sessions covered:\n\n\n	Turbulent processes in the boundary-layer and fr
 ee atmosphere\n	Air-sea exchange\n	Atmospheric shallow and deep convection
 \n	The physics dynamics interface and gravity waves\n	Microphysics and clo
 uds\n	Radiation\n	The land surface and orographic drag\n	Stochastic physic
 s and lessons learned from global km-scale simulations\, respectively.\n\n
 \nBringing together this exciting community\, we enjoyed lively discussion
