DESCRIPTION:This is an online only course\, there will be future opportuni
 ties to attend an in-person version of this course.The aim of the course i
 s to increase participants’ ability to examine\, assess\, and utilise EC
 MWF output products and to provide advanced training on the operational as
 pects of the ECMWF forecasting system. It is directed towards users who ar
 e (or will be) using ECMWF forecasting products either directly as forecas
 ting staff or in research and development work. The course aims to help us
 ers get maximum benefit from the Centre's products.Lectures on a variety o
 f aspects of the ECMWF forecasting system and ECMWF forecasting products w
 ill be complemented with practical sessions where participants will work i
 n small groups with an expert trainer to assess ECMWF forecasts in case st
 udy situations. Participants will also learn how to effectively use web ap
 plications for forecast data visualisation.Participants will be required t
 o complete pre-course activities which will take up to 12 hours of self-st
 udy. These activities include completing online e-learning modules\, creat
 ing a poster or presentation on how ECMWF products are currently used by t
 he participants and contributing to online discussion forums. The completi
 on of these tasks will ensure all participants have the knowledge to get t
 he most out of the interactive part of the course and it will also help th
 e trainers to better understand what you would like to achieve and discuss
  during the course.All lectures will be given in English.Please note that
