DESCRIPTION:\nThis 5-day course provides a comprehensive overview of the u
 sage of meteorological satellite observations in operational numerical wea
 ther prediction (NWP).\nIt includes a series of lectures and practical ses
 sions covering fundamental theoretical concepts through to practical appli
 cations in modern state-of-the-art data assimilation systems.\nProgramme\n
 In our lectures and practicals we'll be covering:\n\n\nData assimilation m
 ethods\, including the role of background/observation errors\, bias correc
 tion\, coupled approaches\n\n\nRadiative transfer and other observation op
 erators\n\n\nKey satellite observations from passive and active sensors (e
 .g.\, microwave\, infrared\, visible\, radio occultation\, scatterometers\
 , Atmospheric Motion Vectors\, etc)\n\n\nMachine learning with satellite d
 ata for NWP\n\n\n \nMore information on the contents of this course will 
 be published on this website in due time.\nRequirements\nThis course is sp
 onsored by EUMETSAT and is open to anybody with a suitable background.\nPr
 ior knowledge in the use of satellites data or optimal estimation concepts
  is desirable.\nWe target primarily early career scientists\, including Ph
 D students with relevant experience\, as well as others with a relevant in
 terest and background in the field.\nThis training is in-person\, and all
