DESCRIPTION:\nBackground\nECMWF is contributing to the Africa–EU Space P
 artnership Programme by taking a leading role in Strengthening Early Warn
 ing in Africa (SEWA) alongside EUMETSAT and the African Union Commission
  (AUC)\, and funded by the European Commission's DG for International Part
 nerships (DG INTPA).\nSEWA started in January 2025\, and will develop spac
 e-based services and applications to strengthen early warning systems for 
 hazardous weather and climate-related events in sub-Saharan Africa. With t
 his Action\, ECMWF also contributes to the UN EW4All Initiative. Throughou
 t the implementation\, African Regional Climate Centers designated by WMO 
 are foreseen to play a central role in SEWA in their area of responsibilit
