CAMS 3rd Policy User Workshop

The Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) is holding a back-to-back workshop with the FAIRMODE community in Warsaw, Poland to learn more about the CAMS policy products and their uses in relevant policy applications. The meeting is to start on Wednesday 13th February at 16:00 p.m. and end on Thursday 14th February at 17:00 p.m.

Copernicus is an EU funded earth observation programme designed to provide data and information freely and openly through six services to tackle environmental challenges and stimulate innovation and economic growth. The Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) provides continuous data and information on air quality, atmospheric composition, and climate change.

The CAMS policy products are shaped based on feedback from users and policy-makers across Europe and consolidated through years of research and development projects. The current products with interest for policy-makers describe air quality in Europe and its evolution over the years, identifying air pollution episodes, their impact on health and the environment, as well as the main drivers responsible for such pollution events. The CAMS policy products are intended to support national environmental users in the process of reporting the cause of exceedances in their countries and in the elaboration of Clean Air plans and programs under European legislation.

Workshop outline

The Copernicus policy user workshop in Warsaw will bring a unique opportunity to interact with the environmental community and discuss future options for a responsible use of CAMS products in the implementation of Clean Air policies.  The workshop will be hold back-to-back with the plenary meeting of the FAIRMODE community to allow the exploration of synergies and possible co-operations and mutual benefits from interaction with the Copernicus services.
