Workshop on software strategies for sustainable physical modelling

The workshop is intended not only as a set of presentations, but as a structured discussion between communities building the next generation of physical, hybrid, and data-driven modelling systems. The breakout discussions should help identify lessons, common requirements, and possible crossover points that can inform ECMWF's future forecast-system software strategy.

Based on the current draft programme, breakout activity is expected during Wednesday afternoon, Thursday afternoon, and a Friday morning rapporteur and synthesis session. We will set questions for the groups to discuss and publish these on the website in advance. Each discussion group will be chaired by a non-ECMWF attendee, who will also act as rapporteur for the Friday synthesis session. Each group will also have an ECMWF note-taker to help capture the discussion and make sure the outputs are useful for the follow-up work.
