The CF Conventions Community Workshop 2026 is a hybrid scientific and technical event designed to bring together researchers, developers, and data specialists working with climate and forecast metadata.
The workshop provides a collaborative environment for the exchange of ideas, the discussion of emerging challenges, and the development of practical solutions. Participants will engage in a combination of plenary sessions, invited talks, and interactive discussions, alongside hands-on hackathons and breakout sessions.
Objectives
The workshop aims to foster collaboration across the international CF Conventions community, support the evolution and adoption of CF metadata standards, and promote developments in CF-compliant data. It will also facilitate discussion on interoperability across data formats and systems, while enabling practical progress through collaborative hackathons and working groups.
In this year’s workshop, some of the topics we will focus on are:
-
GRIB to CF
-
Applying CF to different data formats
-
Encoding uncertainty metadata in CF
Additional topic suggestions are very welcome. Please see the Presentation submissions section for information on how to submit ideas and contribute to the workshop agenda.
