Hackathon: Innovate with Open Climate Data

About Us

The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) is an independent intergovernmental organisation supported by 34 member states.

At ECMWF, world-leading scientists in meteorology and climate as well as engineers, developers and data experts from all over Europe produce and disseminate numerical weather predictions to national meteorological services.

We further host the largest archive of meteorological data worldwide with more than 120 PB of data and are in charge of operating two Copernicus services on behalf of the European Union: the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) and the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S). ECMWF is further involved in the Copernicus marine and emergency services, by hosting the information system platform of the European Flood Awareness System (EFAS).

Copernicus is the European Commission’s flagship Earth observation programme, which delivers freely accessible operational data and information services. It provides users with reliable and up-to-date information through a set of services related to environmental and security issues.
